About Us – Love this Place

Kinvara Tidy Towns is an active Tidy Towns group in the village of Kinvara. We have a core committee of 12 volunteer members and over 45 volunteers within our group and the wider Community. Our group is associated with the Kinvara Community Council and is based at the Kinvara Community Centre.

Kinvara Tidy Towns connects with multi stakeholders, ranging from three National and Secondary Schools, Sports groups, Foroige, Scouts, Beavers and Cubs groups, ten different local environmental groups, the Dolmen Centre and many of our over 80 Community based groups on a regular basis.

We also partner with the following teams within Galway County Council, Gort Area Council Office, the Environmental Council team, Biodiversity Council team, Climate Change Council team, and Heritage team.

Whilst litter management and presentation of our village green areas and streetscapes are important, the implementation of best environmental practices, national pollinator guidelines, legislation and Galway Country Council best practices, in respect to sustainability and biodiversity are increasingly being integrated into all of our work practices.

The Kinvara Tidy Towns has as its primary focus the encouragement of the local Community to improve the local environment in order to make the town and its immediate environs a better place to Live, Work and visit.

The group is completely dependent on volunteers who help with all the various tasks involved; the principal general ones being litter collections, flower bed and footpath maintenance.

The group enter the Tidy Towns National Competition each year, with judging usually between June and August.  There are 8 Categories:-
