Spring into action and start sowing!!
It’s time to spring into action and start sowing. As for us, it’s designing our plan, lots of chats, getting our trays out, seeds sorted, who’s growing what.. We use a glass house, tunnel and quite a no of bright window sills π… We also have plants that we will split in time. In our village, We have 12 beds, 2 boats and 26 pots to fill.πͺ
Our main reference is the All Ireland pollinator code. We will also grow flowers from seeds collected in the village and Burren Nature Sanctuary last summer. This year, we will look at more coastal tough flowers, plants and seek to further increase our perennials percentage and use of native species. Each year we are seeking to become more sustainable and learn more. It’s a long apprenticeship.π
Thanks to Burren Nature Sanctuary & Botanical Collection and our Biodiversity officer in Galway County Biodiversity Office Galway County Council for their support with seeds and coastal plants training last year.
You can look up www.pollinators.ie for a full list to help you when selecting seeds or buying plants this year for your garden. πͺπ
Happy sowing all π
