Sustainability Tips Series No.8 – Reduce eating Beef!
Go meat-free if you can— starting with beef — at least one day each week. We recognise eating Beef is an important source of protein, nutrients and as part of a balanced diet.
However beef is not great for the planet on the scale its produced and eaten today: Production of one quarter-pound burger requires 2,400 litres to produce and emits 0.126 pounds of methane — a greenhouse gas roughly 25 times more potent than carbon dioxide.
Globally, about 15 percent of all human-caused greenhouse gas emissions are due to livestock, nearly two thirds of which come from cattle.
It’s about balance and reducing consumption where it makes sense and when you can.
